ABOUT US

 

GH Calabria is a tourism enterprise, specialized in the nature-adventure branch. It realized and manages the biggest Adventure Park in south of Italy under the brand name Orme nel Parco, located in the Sila National Park. It is a responsible and environmentally sustainable tour operator and addresses to those travelers (individuals, small groups and school groups) who look for emotions in harness with nature and choose an active and involving kind of holiday.
GH Calabria proposes excursion itineraries all around Calabria by walk, mountain-bike and other trekking equipments and accommodations that reflect and respect the local identity. Moreover, it is an enterprise specialized in design, construction and management of forest adventure parks.

 

Orme nel Parco starts up in 2003 from the idea of Giovanni Leonardi and Massimiliano Capalbo, two young people from Catanzaro fond of mountains. They began organizing and promoting naturalistic excursions by jeep in the mountains of Calabria, to valorize and make known the naturalistic attractions of this region. Later, after coming in contact with Stefano Ceci, they created the adventure park of Zagarise. The economic and social exit of this initiative (about 20000 visitors in just two years) has stated GH Calabria as a good example of responsible entrepreneurship for the entire South of Italy. The tale of this enterprise has been also told in a book, Di là dal ponte, which has contributed to dispel many commonplaces about Calabria, telling the story of a an innovative approach to a territory that has always been considered a difficult and hopeless place.

 

 

THE MEMBERS

	Massimiliano Capalbo. Together with Giovanni, he is the mind of Orme nel Parco. He is charter member and president of GH Calabria. He is an environmental excursionist guide (AIGAE's member) and the product manager of Orme nel Parco. His love for mountains joins his fondness for marketing and communication. He devours books, loves to travel and to build bridges from Calabria to the rest of the world, by means of weak links, to continue to see it pulsating, to continue to feel himself part of this extraordinary region in a responsible way. m.capalbo@ormenelparco.it
	Stefano Ceci 40 years old. Sometimes, Cristina, Benedetta and Margherita grouch a little... but then, they comprehend, support and usually advise him. Stefano entered the tourism sector in 1998. He is 28 when he becomes General Director of the Regional Company for Tourism Promotion in Emilia Romagna. When he is 32, he moves from the public to the private sector, becoming the manager director of a financial group dealing with tourism receptive activities. In 2004 he had developed some keen convictions, cherished many questions and a family to speak with about all this. And so, GH Impresa Turistica is born, once a company, today a group that grows up thanks to the proposals, the energies and the criticisms of about 25 collaborators.
	Giovanni Leonardi. His crazy fondness for mountains turned into a proper work activity when, together with Massimiliano, he created Orme nel Parco first and then GH Calabria. He is an official guide of Sila National Park, a member of the Mountain Rescue team of Catanzaro, an environmental excursionist guide (AIGAE's member) and the manager of the Adventure Park of Zagarise. 	Renato Mancini. In every respectable family there is always a black sheep. He is graduated in scenography and is a professional footballer, but he has always loved the mountains. Tantalized by the umpteenth challenge, he got captured by the "Orme" project. He is convinced that it can give a new impetus to this territory which have been underestimated so far. THE CO-WORKERS

	Francesco Colao. Instructor and controller of the personal security equipments (PSE) of the adventure park. He is a CAI's member and the Deputy Head of the Mountain Rescue team of Catanzaro. He loves to travel and walk to the rhythm of the tarantella through long "Senteri" (paths), those ones that his favorite band, the Marasà, describes as... impervious roads, non conventional pathways, partially not explored, that intercross to become a non linear, non geometrical but articulate and organic net. Getting going on unknown ways always has a taste of adventure, of traveling that finally enriches and changes one's points of view, one's perspectives... f.colao@ormenelparco.it
	Salvatore Mustari. Instructor. He has a hobbyhorse which is his favorite verb too: climbing. Any rock face he runs into, sooner or later has to be climbed. He is an environmental excursionist guide (AIGAE's member) and a member of the Mountain Rescue team of Catanzaro. He loves any activity in the mountains and, aware of how Calabria's territory lends itself to several experiences (trekking, rafting, sport climbing, canyoning, via ferrata), does his best, with all the team of Orme nel Parco, to make people understand that there is no need to look far what they can find just around the corner. s.mustari@ormenelparco.it
	Marco Pace. Instructor. He is the "arm" of our park, especially when he shoulders his rifle to take part in the Softair's competitions, which he is very fond of. He dedicates himself to carefully teach costumers how to go safely on the acrobatic courses of the adventure park. Since he was a child, he cultivates his passion for mountains and nature. After six years of scouting and four years in the Italian Navy, he chose to go in for the most adventurous activities such as reconnaissance, exploration, orienteering, survival, climbing.
